- Generic and application-specific clips provide a reliable attachment alternative
- Double-sided thermally conductive tapes are available for any package type
- Two mechanical attachment clip alternatives are available: The SM and TH lines (each is available in a straight and a diagonal version)
- Both lines are suitable for high-reliability applications (do not contain any bonding agents or organic substances)
- Both lines are structured in a fashion that minimizes any interference with surrounding airflows
- Pre-applied phase change interface materials (a substitute to grease) are available
- Pre-applied double-sided thermally conductive tapes are available for any package type
- Through-holes, tapped holes and other secondary operations, for mounting purposes, are available
- Pin fin for SM devices are offered with pre-applied double-sided thermally conductive tapes
- Tapes are available for metal, ceramic and plastic packages
- The dimensions and location of the pads can be altered to meet non-standard application-specific requirements
- SM clips are slightly curved perforated strips that are stamped out of half-hard stainless steel
- SM clips are generic by nature and can accommodate any component height or board thickness
- Are screwed to two standoffs that must be mounted on to the board, adjacent to the device
- The standoff height is determined by the chip height, the thickness of the board, and the required hold-down force
- The "lean" structure of SM clips minimizes blockage of surrounding airstreams and thus ensures no negative impact on the thermal performance of the heat sink
- SM clips are available in 2 basic configurations, straight and diagonal
- Straight SM clips are positioned on top of the heat sink and run through the middle row of the pins while diagonal SM clips are positioned diagonally

- TH clips are one-piece spring clips formed of heat-treated beryllium copper
- Positioned on top of the heat sink's base, they snap into two obround slots in the PCB, adjacent to the device
- TH clips are application-specific and are produced to fit the component height, PCB thickness & desired hold-down force
- Are suitable for high-volume production purposes due to the ease of assembly
- The "lean" structure of SM clips minimizes blockage of surrounding airstreams and thus ensures no negative effect on the thermal performance of the heat sink
- TH clips are available in 2 basic configurations, straight and diagonal
- Straight TH clips are positioned on top of the heat sink and run through the middle row of the pins
- Diagonal TH clips are positioned on top of the heat sink but are placed diagonally
